Course Description:
This course will introduce economic concepts that will aid students in the practice of law and will apply these to foundational issues in various legal fields. The course will begin by introducing economic fundamentals such as decision analysis, basic game theory, and other selected topics in microeconomics. We will then apply these concepts to problems in a variety of legal fields such as property, torts, contracts, and litigation. Students will become sophisticated consumers of economic information and methods and will build economic intuition about legal approaches and doctrine. No prior knowledge of economics is necessary, but a basic comfort with algebra will be required, as the class will involve some quantitative problem solving.
