The Special Materials Index contains descriptions created by staff of the Department of Archives & Special Collections at Arizona State University Libraries. The database is composed of eight sections, which are varied in content. Each section may include: booklets, pamphlets, small manuscripts, issues of unique newspapers and newsletters, biographies, broadsides, article reprints, reports, photographs, and more.

American Indian Index, part of the Labriola National American Indian Data Center, covers prehistory to the present time and includes all topics dealing with the American Indian in Alaska, Canada, and the United States.

Design Library, holds some 200 Biltmore Hotel construction photographs that are included in the Albert Chase McArthur Collection.

Arizona and Southwestern Index, dates from prehistory to the present time and covers all subjects dealing with Arizona and the Southwest including some southwestern Indian tribes. The index describes materials found in the Arizona Collection.

Child Drama Collection Index, contains manuscript materials, posters, photographs and ephemera documenting the international history of theatre for youth.

Mexican American Index, describes materials from the Chicana/o Research Collection that document Mexican-American history and culture primarily in the Arizona and Southwest region.

Special Collections Index, describes performing arts, literary and book history materials associated with our Special Collections.

University Archives Index, describes materials that document the history of Arizona State University.

Visual Literacy Index, describes materials from the Benedict Visual Literacy Collection documenting the history and study of visual education and visual communication.
