Course Description:
Experience: The real teacher. The externship experience enhances your law school education and allows you the opportunity to refine your professional skills while working closely with esteemed lawyers, judges and judicial clerks. Placements are available with governmental entities such as the Office of the Attorney General, United States Department of Justice, and Maricopa County Public Defender, and with non-profit organizations, such as Community Legal Services, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, and Arizona Center for Law in the Public Interest. Judicial placements are available with the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, United States Bankruptcy Court, United States District Court, Maricopa County Superior Court, Arizona Court of Appeals, and occasionally the Arizona Supreme Court. Accordingly, the College will normally recognize a maximum of 12 credit hours for law school externship work in partial fulfillment of the J.D. degree under the guidelines set forth in the STATEMENT OF STUDENT POLICIES. A listing of all available externship opportunities is distributed to students in September (for spring) and in January (for summer and fall.) Students will be required to attend two classes on the following dates:
Thursday, January 5th from 1 - 4 pm in room 105
Friday, February 24th from 4 - 6 pm Room to be determined
