Course Description:
An application is required for this course. Preference will be given to third-year students that have taken federal Indian I and federal Indian law II. The application can be found here: Application. Applications are due by November 26.
This class will begin with a meeting on January 21 from
11:15 am – 1:15 pm in room 394A to outline the format of
the course and to discuss the principles of the Indian
political classification embodied in the assigned reading
materials. Individual meetings and counseling will
continue as needed throughout the semester.
This Research Cluster will focus on the Indian political
classification under federal law in concert with
reviewing equal protection concepts under federal law as
well. Small group meetings will be scheduled during the
semester. Students will research and complete a white
paper on the focus area of this course and present their
findings to representatives from Arizona's Indian tribal
governments. This Research Cluster will be limited to 6
students.
