Course Description:
This is an ASUSync Course that will be attended via Zoom.
A general introduction to patent law and policy. A patent
is a federally-granted bundle of entitlements that
include, most importantly, the right to prevent others
from making, using, selling, or importing the patented
invention for a defined period of time. The course will
cover a little history of patent law; the policy
rationales for granting or withholding patents; and a
detailed consideration of the patentability requirements
(patentable subject matter, utility, novelty,
nonobviousness, and disclosure), patent infringement,
defenses and limitations to patent rights, and remedies.
