Course Description:
This course introduces students to a variety of tax topics and how our tax laws are administered. We will hear from a number of speakers from different walks of tax life, including the IRS, the Joint Committee on Taxation, the Tax Court, and others. The first hour of class will be a discussion of the speaker’s career path and role within the tax system. The second hour will focus on an interesting tax issue the speaker has worked on. Speakers will identify readings for the second hour that students will be expected to have read so they can engage in a discussion of the issue presented.
