Leigh Steinberg is the American sports agent. During his 30-year career, Mr. Steinberg has represented over 150 professional athletes in football, baseball, basketball, boxing, and Olympic sports. He has represented the No. 1 pick overall in the NFL draft a record eight times, a milestone unmatched within the sports industry. His client list has included our very own 2014 Convocation Speaker, Steve Young, as well as Troy Aikman, Warren Moon, Bruce Smith, Thurman Thomas, Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Leinart, Ricky Williams, Howie Long, Dusty Baker, Lennox Lewis, Oscar de la Hoya, and many, many more. Mr. Steinberg is often credited as the real life inspiration of the sports agent from the film Jerry Maguire.
Sun Devil SELSA welcomes Mr. Steinberg to the College of Law to speak to and engage with our students, as well other graduate and undergraduate students at ASU. The general public is also welcome. Mr. Steinberg recently released his memoir titled “The Agent: My 40-Year Career Making Deals and Changing the Game,” in which he reveals his experience in the world of sports, business, and entertainment; as well as chronicling the rise and downfall of his career. Mr. Steinberg's goal is to aspire new lawyers, businessmen, researchers, medical professionals, and sports enthusiasts to make an impact on the world. Mr. Steinberg will also spend time signing his new book for those interested.
