Abstract

This article is the seventh annual review of the decisions of the Arizona Supreme Court, covering the period from August 1, 2003, to July 31, 2004. This major task of a comprehensive review of the substantive work of Arizona's highest court, in combination with a statistical survey, is a largely unique contribution to legal scholarship on the law-generating work of state supreme courts. Beyond an analytic assessment of the decisional law rendered by the Arizona Supreme Court, the annual review provides a comparative statistical evaluation of the Arizona Supreme Court's work over the now seven-year period of these studies. The annual review, therefore, offers a binocular view on the Arizona Supreme Court, with one eye on the decisions of the past year, and the other viewing that work in the context of the recent past.
