Back to the Future   by Steve on 12/29/09
It used to be that lawyers learned by shadowing other lawyers as an apprentice. I think we need to get students out of the classroom and into the real world sooner rateher than later. Start with the homeless and move up from there!

Less Theory, More Practical Applications   by Kimberly on 11/21/09
What I am often seeing in the law school programs in a number of schools I have researched, as well as talking to those who've completed law school and seeing the reasons for sanctions (or worse) from the State Bar - it doesn't seem there is enough application to the day to day activities on how to be an attorney. Perhaps many would think managing trust account activity or organizational skills to make sure clients get their calls returned (etc.) would be something any law school grad could figure out on their own, but it seems there are numerous complaints about attorneys not doing their jobs - and I really think because they were never properly taught. I think also including some coursework on how to effectively utilize Paralegals as well as how to avoid UPL issues in the scope of what is authorized for Paralegals to perform.
