Katie Howland O’Brien is a 2013 cum laude graduate of the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, where she was a recipient of the 2013 Dean’s Award in Recognition of Outstanding Performance, a CALI award winning legal writer, and a Willard H. Pedrick Scholar. During law school, she externed for The Hon. William J. O’Neil, Presiding Disciplinary Judge at the Arizona Supreme Court; was a law clerk and extern at Charles F. Myers PA estate planning law firm; and an extern at Phoenix Children’s Hospital General Counsel’s Office.
Prior to law school, Howland O'Brien worked in the nonprofit industry as a Director at Hospice of the Valley, and Vice President of Programs and Operations at Gabriel’s Angels, where she primarily worked to develop the financial and operating infrastructure for new programs and entities. She received a Professional Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the ASU Lodestar Center for Nonprofit Management in 2006.
Howland O'Brien was also Managing Director of a consulting firm based in Atlanta, Georgia, advising clients on access to the senior bank debt markets. Prior to starting the firm she was Senior Vice President and Managing Director of the Corporate Investment Bank of Wachovia (now Wells Fargo), where she managed deal teams in a dynamic and intense transactional practice financing a range of mergers, acquisitions, working capital, and other transactions.
