The Hon. Sarah Sharer Curley currently serves as a U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge for the District of Arizona, having been appointed to a second, 14-year term. She previously served as the Bankruptcy Court’s Chief Judge from 2001-2005.
Judge Curley is active in the American Bar Association’s Judicial Division, currently serving as a member of the Executive Committee of the National Conference of Federal Trial Judges. She has been active in the National Association of Women Judges and has provided assistance to the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges. At the local level, Judge Curley has worked with a steering committee of lawyers and judges to form the Arizona Bankruptcy American Inn of Court. She has been selected as the Inn’s first President.
Before being appointed a bankruptcy judge, Judge Curley was a senior-level counsel for First Wisconsin Corp. in Milwaukee, Wisc., and an associate attorney with Otterbourg, Steindler, Houston & Rosen in New York City, and with a small, boutique law firm, concentrating on bankruptcy practice and complex litigation.
