James B. Bowen

James Bowen is an Assistant Attorney General in the Liability Management Section of the Arizona Attorney General’s Office. His practice focuses primarily on the defense of the State, its agencies, and its employees who are involved in child protective services, developmental disabilities, and health services.

Professor Bowen has more than twenty years of experience representing defendants and plaintiffs in civil litigation in a wide variety of areas, including wrongful death, abuse and neglect, medical malpractice, premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, and civil rights claims. He serves as a Judge Pro Tem in the Maricopa County Superior Court and is a member of the Arizona State Bar’s committees on Civil Practice and Procedure and Recommended Civil Jury Instructions.

Professor Bowen trained in Clinical Bioethics at the Alden March Bioethics Institute at Albany Medical College. He is a member of the Banner Thunderbird Hospital Bioethics Committee and the Banner Healthcare Systemwide Bioethics Steering Group. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Bioethics Network.
