Robert Choo has worked as an attorney at the U.S. State Department since 2010, handling a wide range of matters including the creation of a special court for Kosovo war crimes. He served in the Obama administration as a Deputy Legal Adviser at the National Security Council from 2015-2016, where his portfolio included international human rights and humanitarian law, UN and multilateral affairs, international economic issues, climate negotiations, economic sanctions, treaties and international agreements, development and humanitarian assistance, and the implementation of the Iran Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). He also served as a Legal Adviser at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad from 2011-2012. A graduate of Yale Law School, Harvard Kennedy School and Harvard College, he clerked for the Honorable Betty Fletcher of the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Honorable Judith Rogers of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals.
