Ted Gerarden is the Director of the Office of Administrative Litigation at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. He supervises staff representing the public interest in trial-type hearings to determine just and reasonable rates for interstate transmission of electricity, natural gas, and oil. Previously Mr. Gerarden worked in the Commission’s Office of Enforcement, where he was instrumental in developing the Commission’s enforcement policies and in investigating violations of the Commission’s rules and requirements.
Prior to joining the Commission in 2003, Mr. Gerarden was a partner in Washington, D.C. law firms represening a wide variety of energy clients in administrative and court cases and transactional matters. Mr. Gerarden has more than 30 years’ experience in economic regulation of essential services, both in government and in private practice.
Mr. Gerarden is a graduate of the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and the Georgetown University Law Center.
