Andy Gordon is a Founding Partner of Coppersmith Schermer & Brockelman, PLC. Prior to founding that firm in 1995, he practiced with Lewis and Roca, LLP, from 1973 - 1992. 

In 1993-94 Professor Gordon was Chief of Staff for U.S. Rep. Sam Coppersmith (D-Ariz.). From April 2009 through November 2010, he was with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as Counsel to the General Counsel. One of his primary assignments related to Guantanamo. In that role he served as a DHS representative on three presidential commissions, “Ensuring Lawful Interrogations,” “The Guantanamo Review Task Force,” and “The Review of Detention Policy Options.”
