Yvonne Stevens

Yvonne Stevens’ teaching and research focus reflects her interest in emerging technologies from a law and ethics perspective.  She has taught Bioethics and the Law, Genetics and the Law; Law, Science and Technology; and Legal Professional Responsibility.  Within ASU, she is a Faculty Associate, Faculty member and Scholar of the Center for Public Health Law and Policy, a Center for Law, Science & Innovation (LSI) Faculty Fellow and has been actively involved in LSI community educational activities and conferences.  She is a Barrett Honors Faculty member as well as an Affiliate Faculty member of the Global Security Initiative, the Center for Human, Artificial Intelligence and Robot Teaming and the Center on the Future of War. She has published and spoken on a number of specific topics including genetics, human subjects research, physician liability, animal testing, organ transplantation, human enhancement, technology & employment, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, privacy & technologies, patent law, biotechnology and risk governance.  In addition, Yvonne spent time in private practice in Vancouver, British Columbia at an internationally renowned law firm.  Among other commitments and interests, Yvonne is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), 2019 Chair, Risk, Policy & Law Specialty Group of the Society for Risk Analysis, a member of the American Society of Law, Medicine and Ethics, an ASU Law Legal Analytics Program fellow and a member of the Law & Technology Committee, Arizona Technology Council.   Yvonne received her LL.M. in Biotechnology and Genomics from ASU’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law in May 2013 and holds an LL.B. (J.D. equivalent) from the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
